Unfortunately, I’ve had to take some time off from everything in the last couple months. I’ve managed to run a few times. But that’s about it.
There have been a lot of personal decisions to be made and some additional expenses that have resulted from those decisions.
That has forced me to keep things stagnant for a while. But I will be getting back to training on January 1st. As I embark on a hard 60 day training cycle.
One of those major personal decisions surrounded sperm storage. Which can get pretty expensive. And that involved a conversation with an interested party. And then cost me another $500.
I’ve stated before that the hidden costs of a stem cell transplant can get pretty high. Sperm storage is definitely one of those costs. But it’s necessary if future children are a consideration.
It also meant testing my fertility in order to see if future storage was even necessary. That’s a surreal experience. Especially if you consider yourself to be relatively young.
There were also appointments to see how I was doing. And let me know what’s in the future. And when I could possibly get clearance to return to work.
And there was a lot of testing. MRIs and blood tests and CT scans. It was also the three year anniversary of my cancer surgery. So those appointments have been mixed in. And there are more to come.
Anyway. Look forward to the occasional video in the coming weeks and months. I’ll be doing most of my training on the maintained paths along the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. So most of my videos will come from that setting which promises to only improve as the winter goes on. As a side note, I hate winter running. It’s a hold over from my military days. But I’m going to make it work.
And once I enter the training period for the Ottawa marathon, I’ll start fundraising for it.
Thanks everyone for understanding.
